A Night of Literature and Connection
Former “Today” co-host and author Hoda Kotb, along with Greenwich resident and author Jenna Bush Hager, host of “Today with Jenna and Friends,” were spotted having dinner at La Bistro on East Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob. The two joined forces later that evening for an author talk and reception at Christ Church, where they discussed Kotb’s latest book, “Jump and Find Joy: Embracing Change in Every Season of Life.” The event drew a large crowd, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm for literature and personal stories.
Honoring Tradition and Heritage
The St. Lawrence Society in Cos Cob is set to host a Columbus Day Celebration on October 13, honoring Riverside resident Vincent (Vin) DeFina. DeFina will be celebrated for his exemplary values and traditions, joining 37 previous honorees. As part of the festivities, he will raise the Italian Flag during the annual Italian flag-raising ceremony at Greenwich Town Hall. This event serves as a tribute to Italian American heritage and community contributions.
A Taste of Fall at Westoberfest
The 8th Annual Westoberfest Craft Beer and Family Fall Festival will take place on October 4 from noon to 6 p.m. in downtown Westport. CBS News weather anchor and Westport resident Lonnie Quinn will host the event, which includes competitions like a stein-holding challenge and hot dog eating contest. Attendees can enjoy beer tastings, live music, food trucks, and local vendors such as Haven Hot Chicken, Paradise Island Food, COBS Bread, Sushi Jin, and LemonNate’s lemonade.
Jazz Night at Bedford Playhouse
Bedford Playhouse First Fridays will feature an evening of jazz with singer and songwriter Kristina Koller on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Koller’s latest album, “Walk On By,” reimagines the Burt Bacharach songbook with genre-bending arrangements. Admission to the event is free, making it an accessible opportunity for music lovers.
Art Exhibition at The Flinn Gallery
An opening reception and artist talk recently took place at The Flinn Gallery at The Greenwich Library for its latest exhibition, “Vietnam: Tradition Upended.” Curated by Debra Fram and Barbara Richards of the Flinn Gallery, along with Suzanne Lecht of Art Vietnam Gallery in Hanoi, the exhibit featured works from various artists. Among the 190 guests were Stephanie and Lawrence Flinn, who celebrated the 97th season in the newly renovated gallery. The exhibition will run through November 12.
Supporting a Cause with DART To the Finish
The 8th Annual DART To the Finish Charity Walk, benefiting Dana’s Angels Research Trust for Niemann-Pick type C disease, will take place on October 4 at Tod’s Point in Old Greenwich. The 2-mile walk starts at 9 a.m., with check-in at the picnic area behind the second concession stand. Participants receive a commemorative T-shirt, refreshments, and access to a referral reward program. Virtual walkers are also welcome, allowing global participation.
Grand Opening of the Rebecca S. Breed Clubhouse
The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Rebecca S. Breed Clubhouse at 4 Horesneck Lane on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Tours of the clubhouse will be available from noon to 1:30 p.m., with light refreshments served. Golfing for a Good Cause
The 12th Annual Shatterproof Classic, benefiting Shatterproof, a national organization focused on reversing the addiction crisis in the United States, will take place on Monday at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton. The event features a day of golf, tennis, pickleball, and cards, followed by an evening dinner reception with guest speaker and golf pro Gary Player. All proceeds support efforts to combat the addiction crisis.
