West Chester University Hosts 2025 Homecoming and Family Weekend
West Chester University (WCU) is set to welcome students, faculty, alumni, and friends for its annual Homecoming and Family Weekend from Friday, October 3, through Sunday, October 5. This vibrant celebration offers a wide array of events designed to bring the campus community together and honor the university’s rich traditions.
Homecoming Kickoff Party
The weekend kicks off with theHomecoming Kickoff Partyon Friday, October 3, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the WCU Alumni & Foundation Center (202 Carter Drive, West Chester). Guests can enjoy live music by Brent Pelleschi ’98, local wine and Levante beer, and a pasta and slider bar by Feastivities Events. The Dia Doce Gourmet Cupcakes truck will also be on hand. Pre-registered guests will receive an exclusive Homecoming 2025 pint glass, which must be picked up at the event. Tickets are priced at $15 until September 29 or $20 at the door.
Fall Gallery Walk
On the same evening, the WCU community is invited to theFall Gallery Walk, a free event hosted by the Borough of West Chester from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Attendees can explore local art exhibits and enjoy light refreshments at various sites. Parking meters on uptown streets will be free after 4:00 PM that evening.
Comedy Night with Chris Distefano
The night continues with a comedy performance byChris Distefano, a renowned comedian known for his relatable humor and engaging stage presence. His new hour-long special,It’s Just Unfortunate, is currently streaming on Hulu. The show will take place on Friday, October 3, at 8:00 PM in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall (700 South High Street). Tickets range from $32 to $42 per person.
Block Party and Tailgate Activities
Saturday, October 4, begins with theHomecoming and Family Weekend Block Partyfrom 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM along Shack’s Way outside the Sciences and Engineering Center and The Commons (SECC). Families can have their portraits taken at the Ram Statue from 10:00 AM to noon.
ThePre-Game Tailgatein N Lot (north side of Sturzebecker Health Science Center, 855 South New Street) runs from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Highlights include a new high-energy mechanical football ride, live music, games like Baggo and Giant Jenga, snacks, Levante beer, and food trucks such as Doris’s Donuts & Floats and Whiskey Dogs. Kid-friendly activities include a moon bounce, face painting, and a balloon twister.
Parking on South Campus is $10 per car and available in Lots S, Q, and R. A campus map is available online.
Football Game and Additional Events
The highlight of the day is theHomecoming Football Game against East Stroudsburgon Tomlinson-Fillippo Field at Farrell Stadium on Saturday, October 4, at 2:00 PM. Fans can purchase tickets online. This year’s game days feature additional activities for all ages, including the Purple Pit (presented by Saloon 151 and Station 142) for WCU students and the Kids Zone for future Golden Rams.
Women’s soccer will take on Shepherd University on Saturday, October 4, at 12:00 PM on South Campus at Rockwell Field (855 S. New Street, West Chester).
Families are encouraged to dine with their students at the Carrozza Dining Hall in The Commons from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Students should use meal plans or guest passes. The Theatre & Dance Department will host a free showcase of brief performances from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Learning Stairs in the SECC, followed by Playlist Bingo in the SECC Ballrooms at 8:00 PM.
Sunday Activities and Closing Concert
On Sunday, October 5, visitors can enjoy discounts and free breakfast and coffee at the Campus Store on the lower level of Sykes Student Union from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Hillel Bagel Brunch on the second floor of Sykes will offer free food and fellowship from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
The weekend concludes with afree concertby the WCU Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in Philips Memorial Building (South High Street at University Avenue).
