No risk found at Portland International Airport after reports of public safety concerns this weekPort of Portland police say sweeps at Portland International Airport found no credible threat after several “public safety concern” reports this week, and PDX is operating normally. Local and federal agencies, including the FBI, are still investigating and urging travelers and residents to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious around the airport.

Former security company co-owner sentenced for using excessive force at SE Portland barA former private security company co-owner has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for using excessive force on two people outside El Mojito PDX on SE Stark Street in southeast Portland. Prosecutors say security video showed the guard pepper spraying the men, firing pepper balls, and directing another guard who repeatedly struck one victim with a baton, breaking his fingers.

The suspect was booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on firearm- and forgery-related charges, with additional narcotics and document-fraud evidence seized.

Portland Council President proposes streaming fee to fund artsPortland’s City Council president wants to add a small fee to streaming subscriptions like Netflix and Spotify to fund local arts and boost neighborhood businesses.
