• With some Oak Forest Hospital buildings demolished, Cook County seeks input on land use — Cook County is asking nearby residents, including those in Oak Forest, to help decide the future of the former Oak Forest Hospital campus, where most buildings are being demolished in a multi-year project. A public workshop and charette will be held April 8 at the Markham courthouse, with an online option, to gather ideas for how the large site next to Oak Forest should be reused.
• West Allis nominated for 2026 Strongest Town Contest — Oak Forest is one of 16 North American cities named in the 2026 Strongest Town Contest, which highlights communities improving transportation, housing, and finances. While the story focuses on West Allis, it notes Oak Forest will also be judged on how well it’s building long-term resilience and livability through the Strong Towns approach.
