City Hall’s HVAC overhaul will push Rye’s Building & Planning Department and Assessor’s Office fully remote for all of March, starting Thursday, March 5. Residents and contractors are urged to file applications and documents electronically, with paper drop-offs handled via the City Clerk’s Office upstairs while work continues.
What This $250,000 Trip-and-Fall Lawsuit Could Mean for Rye Streets
A high-profile federal prosecutor is suing the City of Rye and Consolidated Edison, claiming she was injured after tripping over a wooden block at a Boston Post Road construction site near Purchase and Cross streets. The lawsuit, now in Westchester Supreme Court, argues the city and utility failed to keep this heavily used pedestrian area safely maintained.
Will Rye’s New ISO Rating Cut Your Fire Insurance Bill?
Homeowners and business owners in the City of Rye could see lower fire insurance costs after the city’s ISO Public Protection Classification improved from Class 4 to Class 3. Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy credits better staffing, training, technology, and fire education efforts. Officials believe Rye may reach an even stronger Class 2 rating within two years.

The squad looks strong for 2027, but will need to replace his experience and leadership.
