Occasionally, performing your duties requires quick thinking, particularly when others attempt to complicate things.
Picture yourself as a delivery driver, and there’s no available street parking. Should you park in the middle of the road, park at a distance and walk, or proceed to the next delivery?
This manwas transporting a heavy package to a region with small streets.
When he arrived at the location, he parked in the center of the road in order to deliver the package as swiftly as possible.
However, an elderly woman approached him and stated that he was not allowed to park his truck there.
So he came up with a smart method to address the lady’s grievance.
You can’t park here!
I work as a delivery driver for one of the major delivery corporations in the United States.
Today’s delivery route involves a luxury area with extremely narrow streets where vehicles are parked on both sides, making the passage even more restricted for my large delivery truck.
The individual came to the location and parked his truck in the center of the roadway.
My next shipment is a large one, likely a desk or flat-pack furniture that weighs at least 80 pounds.
I came to the address and parked my car right in the middle of the road.
But I’ll be brief, and I have my hazard lights on, so no issue.
From the delivery address, a small elderly woman emerges with the fury of Satan.
The elderly woman shouted at him, stating that he was not allowed to park.
She shouts, “You aren’t allowed to park here!”
I replied, “Okay, where can I park to make the delivery?”
She states, “The closest parking for visitors is at the tennis court, half a mile distant.”
Dragging an 80-pound desk half a mile when I’m already way behind and it’s 110°F outside?
No, thanks.
So, he ensured the vehicle is not “parked.”
Wait a second! I read the label on the package. “Are you Karen?”
She replies, “Sure, but how does that relate to you parking here?”
Cue harmful obedience. I engage the emergency brake.
I put the vehicle in drive while still wearing the seatbelt.
He handed the package to her in a hurry.
I am not in the park, so I am not parked.
I move a large heavy package out of the window while keeping the brake engaged.
Then positioning it upright near her feet.
I am marked as “left with resident.”
Then, he drove off.
I shout while I pull away, “The package was delivered safely. Have a great day!”
I believe I hear her say, “Wait, you can’t just—”
As I pull away, I glance in my side mirror to spot a very puzzled elderly woman.
She is gazing at her desk, then at my delivery truck that is just barely making it down her street.
He acknowledged that he felt pleased with his actions.
Yes, there were more effective methods for dealing with this, but each would have required me to walk half a mile in the heat.
I would either leave a message or bring a desk.
Either way, I just didn’t have the time for that.
Not the best narrative, but it brought me joy at the time, and I felt compelled to share it with someone.
Karen was foolish to complain when it was her own delivery!
Let’s look at what others are saying on Reddit.
Haha. This person has a humorous misunderstanding.
Here’s another individual reflection from this user.
This individual shares their genuine perspective.
Short and simple.
Finally, a kind and uplifting comment for delivery personnel.
When logical thinking doesn’t work, a bit of imagination can make a big difference.
