A Culinary Journey in Naples
Naples is a city that has long been celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, often regarded as the birthplace of the classic Neapolitan pizza. However, beyond the iconic street food, the city offers a vibrant fine dining scene that elevates the gastronomic experience. One standout destination is Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse, located within the ROMEO Napoli hotel. This restaurant merges contemporary innovations with traditional French cuisine, offering a multi-course tasting experience that transcends the typical fine dining setting.
The Experience at Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse
Perched on the 9th floor of the ROMEO Napoli hotel, this dining spot provides an unforgettable view of Mount Vesuvius. My first visit to an Alain Ducasse restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. As one of the most decorated chefs in the world, Alain Ducasse sets a high bar for his establishments, and this restaurant certainly meets those expectations. The service is unparalleled, with each guest receiving personalized attention that makes you feel like your table is the only one in the restaurant.
The modern, upscale atmosphere of the restaurant, combined with the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Vesuvius, set the stage for a memorable meal. The food quickly stole the spotlight, with each course telling a story that blended elements of both French and Italian cuisine. From the aperitivo to the local buffalo fillet, every dish was a testament to the artistry involved in fine dining.
One of my favorite moments was the dessert: a chocolate soufflé crafted by Alain Ducasse Manufacture in Paris, paired with Madagascar sorbet. The texture was melt-in-your-mouth good, and I found myself savoring it even when I wasn’t particularly hungry.
The meal also included several bread courses, a special digestif, and a palate-cleansing tea from the chef. While it’s hard to fully capture the essence of such an experience, it’s one of those moments that truly needs to be lived to be understood.

The luxurious atmosphere of the ROMEO Napoli extends beyond its fine dining offerings. The La Terrazza Lounge Bar, located on the 10th floor, is a stylish space that complements the hotel’s overall aesthetic. Adjacent to the stunning rooftop infinity pool, this bar is perfect for pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap after dinner.
Small bites and drinks
This exclusive bar, available only to hotel guests, offers a selection of champagnes and specialty cocktails in partnership with Krug. The ‘Tutti I Frutti’ cocktail was a highlight, featuring a delightful blend of flavors. The bar also elevates classic small bites, such as the Nerano Sliders, which are inspired by a traditional Amalfi Coast pasta dish made with zucchini. The unique taste of these mini sliders was unlike anything I’ve experienced in a burger before.
My only regret was indulging in these appetizers before heading into the multi-course dinner at Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse. It’s worth noting that the restaurant offers additional courses, such as aperitivo and multi-bread options, which can turn a 3-course meal into a 6+ course experience.
