A Summer of Fun on the Han River

This summer, Seoul is transforming the Han River into the city’s most exciting playground. From July 26 to August 24, the “2025 Hangang Festival_Summer” will bring a wide array of activities to the riverfront, offering residents a chance to cool off and have fun without breaking the bank.

The festival’s theme, “Affordable, Refreshing and Passionate Summer Escape,” features 18 programs spread across 10 Han River parks. This year’s event is longer than previous years, lasting 30 days in anticipation of an early and intense heat wave.

Water Activities for All Ages

At Nanji Hangang Park, festivalgoers can enjoy an infinity pool with a view of the river or float on tubes at “Hangang Cinema Pongdang,” a floating movie theater that runs for two days on July 26 and 27. This unique experience allows people to lounge on tubes while watching films on a giant screen.

For those seeking some adrenaline, the “Log Rolling” competition on July 31 and August 1 offers a challenge. Participants must maintain their balance on a floating log, and organizers will provide tips and tricks for beginners before the competition begins.

On August 9 and 10, “Hangang Music Pongdang” will let swimmers enjoy live music in the water. The entry fees are affordable, ranging from 1,000 won ($0.70) to 3,000 won, with no need for advance reservations.

Family-Friendly Fun

Mangwon Hangang Park’s Seoul Battleship Park will offer water slides, kiddie pools, and air bouncers, making it a perfect spot for families. Meanwhile, Yeouido’s Mulbit Stage will mix water gun battles with live performances. Here, the “Hangang Bus Splash” water festival will showcase DJs and dance crews every Saturday evening, with gear like water guns and ponchos available for rent.

For a more relaxed atmosphere, Yanghwa Hangang Park will host the “Hangang Summer Music Picnic” on August 1 and 2, featuring a floating stage illuminated by 2,000 candles. This setting provides a magical backdrop for music lovers.

K-Drama Fans Will Love This

Big fans of K-dramas can enjoy an overnight screening of the popular director’s cut version of “I’m Sorry, I Love You” (2024) at Seoul Battleship Park. The 369-minute marathon will run straight through, with no sleep, no shame. This remastered version is a six-part series featuring heartthrob So Ji-sub and Lim Soo-jung.

How to Stay Informed

Details about the festival are available on the official website and social media channels. Visitors can find information about the various events, schedules, and ticketing options.

Park Jin-young, head of Seoul’s Future Hangang Headquarters, emphasized that the city aims to deliver an “affordable, joyful, and safe summer escape” for all residents. With its diverse range of activities, the Hangang Festival_Summer promises to be a highlight of the season for locals and visitors alike.
