Individuals are advised to rethink their plans to visit Israel and the West Bank during the summer months, as per the most recent guidance from the State Department released on July 13, citing concerns over terrorism and ongoing civil disturbances.

In the meantime, U.S. citizens are urged not to travel to Gaza because of terrorism and ongoing armed conflict. Additional regions to steer clear of are “Northern Israel within 2.5 miles of the Lebanese and Syrian borders because of ongoing military operations and presence, as well as the Egyptian border within 1.5 miles, except for the Taba crossing, which remains open.”

Egypt – Level 2

The State Department updated its travel advice for Egypttwo days later, on July 15, advising visitors to be more vigilant because of terrorism, criminal activity, and health concerns.

Nigeria – Level 3

Individuals planning to travel in Africa are encouraged to think twice about visiting Nigeria this summer, given issues like crime, terrorism, protests, abductions, armed groups, and unpredictable access to medical care.

Locations to steer clear of are Borno, Yobe, Kogi, and northern Adamawa states, along with Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states, as well as Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers states (excluding Port Harcourt) because of issues such as crime, terrorism, kidnapping, and armed groups.
