Talk To Ole Shammy
To start the Hangover Helper side mission, you need to speak with Iris. She can be found north of the Abandoned Post in the Coastal Bonescape, visibly intoxicated. After a brief conversation with her, you’ll be directed to visit Ole Shammy, who is located to the east. As you approach, you’ll unlock the Shammy’s Shack location, and you’ll encounter the moonshiner in his bar. He’ll tell you he can make a hangover cure, but it will require you to fetch some ingredients.
Where To Gather Fruit
You’ll need to march north and grapple up the cliffs as you follow the waypoints. You’ll run into a horde of Kratch. There are a lot; you can kill them if you want, but you’re only required to grab the fruit, so getting in and getting out is a viable strategy! The fruit will be growing along the rock face. Look for a vibrant green color; when you’re in range, you can use your hook to pull it towards you. After grabbing all four, you can return to Ole Shammy.
There will be two gathering areas marked on your HUD. Each has two pieces of fruit to harvest.
When you make it back to his shack, Shammy will direct you to place the fruit in a tub, then ground pound to smash it. Once you’ve finished, it will be time to grab a geyser nugget.
The game doesn’t explain how to do a jumping slam very well. You need to jump and start hovering, then hold (not press) the crouch button in order to activate the attack.
How To Open The Geyser
Next, you’ll move east to find a nearby geyser. After locating it, ground pound in order to make it erupt. You’ll notice chunks of rock spewing out; be patient and wait for a red one, then lasso it and head back to Shammy.
The local fauna may try to pick a fight with you, but they can be ignored rather easily. Throw the geyser nugget into the pot, and you’ll be ready to grab the final ingredient.
Where To Farm Manglers For Glands
The last thing you need for the hangover cure is nine mangler scent glands. Moving northwest, you’ll find caves where the manglers will emerge. Mow them all down, collecting the blue glands whenever they pop out of a corpse. After a few minutes, they will stop spawning, and you’ll have to navigate to the second area (marked on your HUD) to farm the last few items.
Once you have all nine, you can visit Shammy for the final time, where he’ll whip up the cure and tell you to test it on some nearby drunks.
Cure Some Hangovers (And Do A Little Murder)
With the cure in hand, jump on top of the keg and place it inside. Interact with the nearby microphone, and your character will tell everyone to gather underneath the tower, at which point you can shoot the container, causing the drink to rain down on everyone.
At this point, the partygoers will sober up, but they aren’t happy. Killing them all will be easy, just maintain a healthy distance and abuse your range advantage. Once they’re all dead, the mission will be complete.
You’ll earn a pistol, vehicle paint job, and gun skin when you’re done. They can be found in the rewards section of your inventory menu.
