Originally built in 1927 as the New Orleans Public Service Inc., the building was repurposed and renovated over the years. It officially opened as a hotel in 2017 and underwent another major renovation in 2022. Today, it stands as a Historic Landmark listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. Henry’s Gin Lobby Bar pays homage to Henry Ramos, the inventor of the famous Ramos Gin Fizz. My Deluxe Double Queen Suite on the seventh floor offered 642 square feet of space, complete with oversized furniture, a multi-use table with a beverage station, and locally inspired art. The suite featured two queen beds with upholstered headboards, high thread count linens, and ample lighting and charging options.
The bathroom was equally impressive, with veined wheat-colored marble on the double sink vanity and a glass-enclosed shower with white subway tile. A dressing table and closet with essentials like an in-room safe and Terry robes added convenience for guests.
Dining and Entertainment
The hotel’s Public Service restaurant offers a chef-driven menu with locally inspired dishes, including Crawfish Hushpuppies, Gulf seafood specials, and Southern Fried Chicken. The accompanying bar is lively in the evenings, serving inventive mocktails and happy hour specials. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available during the week, with brunch and dinner on weekends.
For a different experience, the rooftop pool and patio provide a scenic spot to enjoy an afternoon cocktail. Overlooking the Central Business District, this space includes seating vignettes, loungers, and day beds, making it ideal for relaxation or events.
