A Journey of Restoration and Revival
In July 2018, a group known as Unbridled took a bold step by purchasing a dilapidated hotel at the corner of Seventh and Main streets. They acquired it through an auction for $80,000, driven by a vision and a dream to transform the property into something remarkable. The building had seen better days, but to them, it represented untapped potential.
Fast forward seven years, and the project has reached a significant milestone. Unbridled is now celebrating the completion of its three-phase restoration with a grand reopening block party scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at 631 Main St. This event marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and community support.
A Historic Hotel Reborn
The historic boutique hotel, now known as Hotel St. Cloud, blends four-star luxury with the authentic charm of Fremont County. Officially opened in early May, this reimagined 36-room hotel stands as one of Colorado’s oldest hotels. It captures the spirit of the Wild West while welcoming guests to add their own stories to its walls.
The hotel offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, including room service from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., complimentary reserved and free parking, express check-out, and 24-hour security. Guests can also enjoy a variety of dining options, from a sophisticated steakhouse to a rustic lobby bar and an exclusive speakeasy cocktail lounge.
Lindsay Wyss, the General Manager of Hotel St. Cloud, emphasized the balance between historical legacy and modern comforts. “Every element of the hotel honors our historical legacy while seamlessly integrating modern comforts,” she said. From the carefully curated historic photographs to the beautifully restored staircase, the goal was to breathe new life into this beloved landmark.
Culinary Experiences and Local Attractions
Hotel St. Cloud’s steakhouse, 1887 Historic Eatery, opened in February 2024. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with every dish crafted using house-made, seed-oil-free ingredients. The Fremont Public House, located within the hotel, offers an expansive selection of handcrafted cocktails in a lively environment, featuring a restored original backbar.
For those seeking a more intimate setting, the War Room, the hotel’s secret cocktail lounge, provides high-end cocktails and seasonal martinis. It’s the perfect spot for sharing stories in a cozy atmosphere.
Across the street, the Standard Oil Coffee Co. is set to open soon. It will offer coffee, grab-and-go plates, St. Cloud apparel, and hotel amenities. Nearby, Fremont Provisions, a lively sports bar operated by Unbridled, serves hearty food and features a fun zone with free pool, darts, and foosball. Its seasonal, scratch-made menus put a unique twist on classic bar food.
A Night to Remember
Saturday’s block party promises to be a memorable evening filled with live music, festive drinks, and a special champagne toast. Local artists Bradley Hosler, Paul MacSteves, and the headlining act, The Beverely Belles, will perform. The event will also include the ceremonial lighting of the iconic hotel blade sign at 8:30 p.m., symbolizing the rebirth of this cherished landmark.
Complimentary entry is available for all guests, making it a perfect opportunity to celebrate the hotel’s revival. Those interested in securing a drink or VIP package, or a free general admission ticket, can visit the official website.
For those planning a stay, reservations can be made through the hotel’s website or by following @thehotelstcloud on social media for updates and offers.
