Goodhouse Unveils More Than a Restaurant in Mount Kisco

It’s entirely focused on the experience itselfGoodhouse, which debuted on July 17 in Mount Kisco. The three-tiered area, focusing on live performances, is much more than a typical dining establishment.

Rather, it has been created to provide entertainment with numerous personalized features such as balcony seating, a tropical-style rooftop, a carefully selected gift shop, and a cozy Sound and Spirits room intended for vinyl enthusiasts.

Vincent Ficarra, a partner and lead designer on the project, mentioned that the aim was to develop a space that resembled a New York City townhouse where “Mr. and Mrs. Goodhouse could host their friends.” Each level, he explained, was designed with distinct experiences in mind. The first floor — featuring a disco ball and a high-end mixing console/DJ booth — serves as the primary area with a bar and stage; the second floor, equipped with various upholstered chairs, sofas, and cozy corners, resembles a living and dining room; and the third floor, offering rooftop views, custom-built cabanas, a second bar, and an indoor-outdoor atmosphere, is a relaxed Mediterranean-style cocktail lounge.

Some background

Initially designed as a social club and functioned as a pop-up from March to May (including a ghost kitchen), the restaurant is now fully open, except for the Sound and Spirits Room, which will eventually be available for reservations as a listening space. According to Co-Owner Mike Voron, the emphasis has shifted from its original member-centric approach to a more public-oriented model, although membership options with certain benefits are being developed, such as ticket packages for multiple events and co-working spaces on the second floor, which are expected to launch in the coming weeks.

Due to the three-tier configuration, Voron described the area as a “dynamic hospitality project” rather than simply a restaurant.

Our idea goes beyond just food and drinks,” he emphasized. “It’s about food/drinks, entertainment, and building a community.

“They” encompasses him, a former teacher who chose to pursue his passion, Ficarra, the founder of the design agency.Revolver New York(and a well-known graffiti artist and illustrator) and Ari Fink, a veteran music executive, on-air Sirius FM host, and creator of several artist-focused channels like the Dave Matthews Band Radio and Phish Radio. All, along with Betti Barone, executive chef Gabriel Sorgi, and Voron’s wife Ali, are co-owners.

Thanks to Fink’s network, Goodhouse has already transformed into a destination for touring musicians across the country, with additional performances on the horizon. Fink is particularly enthusiastic about Flavor Drop on July 31, an ensemble that performs live renditions of 90s hip-hop hits. He is also eager to highlight as much local talent as possible. Future events will feature comedy, magic shows, family-friendly activities, and more (note that some events require tickets while others are free).

Fink carefully selects a playlist every evening to create an atmosphere — and change the energy. This involves adding live performances from the first level to the sound system on the third floor (in the future, there will also be a screen for diners to view).

What about the food?

Although music and decor are important, the food is equally emphasized, led by Sorgi, who has had a lengthy career in launching and expanding numerous restaurants and properties throughout the country. Voron characterizes the cuisine, which will vary with the seasons and ranges from steak to fish, as “refined yet accessible,” frequently incorporating fusion elements.

Sorgi takes it a step further, emphasizing that it is focused on ingredients and based on simplicity, drawing “from traditional and Mediterranean styles with subtle Asian influences that provide depth and harmony.”

Notable dishes feature Atlantic halibut served with caviar and a butter-based sauce, Lamb Loin Chops accompanied by a pistachio and honey-vanilla glaze, Black Sesame Pork Buns, Scallop Crudo, Summer Salad, and Hand-Cut Steak Tartare.

Drinks are another key feature of Goodhouse, offering a range of mocktails and cocktails, the latter frequently featuring spirits from Newburgh-based Spirits Lab.

More than a restaurant

And there is a store. Ali Voron, who previously owned the now closed Peace Revival in Cross River, currently manages The Shop at Goodhouse, which offers a variety of gifts including glassware, books, jewelry, sunglasses, handmade crafts, and home decorations. In time, the store’s carefully selected items will be spread throughout the area, allowing diners to purchase anything they spot.

Given the size of the space, Mike Voron stated it was evident from the start that they couldn’t simply provide quality food and beverages. “With the food, the music, and the store, there are plenty of choices to attract visitors,” he mentioned.

We hope this becomes a space where everyone can visit and feel comfortable.
