Directed by James Lapine, a Tony Award-winning director and regular collaborator of Stephen Sondheim, “Six by Sondheim” serves as a biography, an educational exploration of music, and a live performance. Told largely through Sondheim’s own words, this long-form documentary combines numerous interviews with the composer, rarely seen archival footage covering over five decades (including newly uncovered clips of Ethel Merman singing “Gypsy”), and re-performances of three songs specifically created for the film.

A humorous and energetic journey along the yellow brick road follows, with Dorothy and her new companions heading to the legendary Emerald City to meet the Great Oz. When Oz sets a high cost for helping her go home, a dangerous new adventure starts. This creative Alden Youth Production version highlights the essence of L. Frank Baum’s beloved story.

Solomon Eichner, a native of Baltimore, has trained at some of the top conservatories across the nation and has earned multiple international competition victories. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2016 following his win in the “Golden Key Debut” International Competition, and has since performed in England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, and various locations throughout the U.S. His performances are celebrated for their technical skill and his talent for bringing music to life with expressiveness.

Sound sessions, sometimes referred to as sound baths, provide a soothing path toward deep relaxation and emotional healing. These peaceful experiences utilize unique instruments such as crystal bowls, chimes, and drums to generate vibrations that move through your body and mind, aiding in the release of stress and tension. It is advised to bring a yoga mat for lying down or sitting. A blanket, pillow, and any additional items that enhance your comfort while lying down or sitting are also encouraged. The McLean Community Center Youth Ambassadors extend an invitation to local high school students to join in a Visual Art & Writing event.Competitionexploring the themeFreedom Through My EyesThis contest is available for students in grades 9 through 12 who live in or go to school within the MCC tax district. Participants are encouraged to think about what freedom, as protected by the U.S. Constitution, signifies to them now. All those who take part will receive certificates, and prizes will be given to the top three in each category.

Indulge in delicious food, enjoy live performances by famous bands playing Latin American and Caribbean music, explore exhibits from talented artisans, and sample both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Discover how to dance various Latin styles with expert dance teachers all night long. Tickets for drinks and food are available on-site, with the funds benefiting Friends of MCC. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to buy or consume alcoholic beverages.
