Cajun Man’s Swamp Tours
If you’re seeking a Houma, Louisiana Swamp Tour, you’ll definitely enjoy Captain Billy Gaston. This was one of the best.swamp excursions in Houma, LA, we have done.
We are still amazed by the number of alligators we encountered and how they respond when Capt. Billy calls them. Yes, that’s right. Captain Billy summons the gators, and immediately, you see them swimming toward the boat like swamp dogs.
I never considered an alligator as a swamp dog until this tour. They were very enthusiastic when approaching the boat, wagging their tails.
You might even get the opportunity to feed one of the alligators during your visit.Cajun Man’s Swamp Cruise.
Captain Billy has more than 30 years of experience hunting alligators, but fortunately, the only “hunting” of gators on these tours is with your camera.
We were greatly impressed by the expertise that Captain Billy provided as our tour guide. Having grown up in the Southern Louisiana Bayous, his background is evident.
He could readily identify local wildlife, birds, and explained how various elements of the bayou were utilized in the past. His enthusiasm for the bayou was evident throughout the tour.
Wildlife/Birds
Besides gators, we spotted Bald Eagles, Limpkin, Roseate Spoonbill, Common Gallinule, turtles, Cattle Egrets, Anhinga, Great Egrets, Prothonotary Warblers, Great Blue Heron, a Yellow Billed Cuckoo, and other wildlife.
You might also spot hawks, owls, and other migratory birds, depending on the season of your visit.
Although particular animal encounters cannot be assured, there is always something remarkable to observe in the Louisiana Bayou.
Don’t miss bringing your camera! We captured numerous pictures during our swamp tour, making it challenging to choose which ones to show.
If you are an avid birdwatcher, you’ll need to carry binoculars to spot birds in the Spanish Moss and Cypress swamp.
