New Businesses and a Farewell in Greeley

Greeley has seen its fair share of changes in recent months, with several long-standing businesses stepping down and new ones taking their place. February brought both excitement and nostalgia to the community as residents welcomed fresh faces and said goodbye to some familiar ones.

New Beginnings

Fox & Hare Creations

Bree Evanson, known for her hand-dyed yarn and custom knit and crocheted items, took a bold step by opening a storefront at 716 16th St. in February. The shop, named Fox & Hare Creations, is located upstairs in the Ambry and has added a vibrant touch to the building since its soft opening on Feb. 7.

“I’m trying to do what I call ‘bougie budget,’ so it’s good quality yarn, but it’s not going to break your bank,” Evanson shared. “Because we’re all kind of in the same boat right now.”

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, visit foxandharecreations.com or email [email protected].

Auntie Angels Childcare

Rebecca Moore, the owner of Auntie Angels Childcare, has been running a child care operation from her home for years. When a space on West 11th Street became available, she seized the opportunity to expand her services.

“It’s a more affordable child care option offering ages six weeks to five years,” Moore explained. “As well as a summer program for school-age kids.”

Although the center will likely not open until mid-April, Moore started accepting registrations in late February. For more details and to register, visit auntieaungelschildc.wixsite.com/auntieangels.

Cherry Picked Books

Aiden Martinez, who joined The Midnight Oil in 2022, found inspiration during a trip to Boston for an antiquarian book fair. This led him to launch Cherry Picked Books, a specialty bookstore focusing on vintage and rare books.

Martinez, also known as Cherry, aims to carve out his own presence in the rare book world while managing The Midnight Oil. His collection is still growing, and he hopes to eventually expand into a physical section within The Midnight Oil.

Cherry Picked Books currently operates online at cherrypickedbooks.com.

Kokes Joyas

Jorge Lucero, a 20-year-old jeweler, has rapidly grown his business, Kokes Joyas, over the past two years. He recently moved into a new storefront at 1108 8th St. Unit 1.

Lucero offers a variety of jewelry, including 925 silver pieces and 10- to 14-karat gold. He also provides repairs and free cleanings. One of his unique offerings is the “stash and dash,” where he leaves jewelry around Greeley for followers to find.

Kokes Joyas is open from 12-6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and closed Mondays. For more information, follow Lucero on Instagram or Facebook.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

Rule105 Brewing

After announcing its closure in December, Rule105 Brewing remained open through February while seeking a buyer. Unable to find one, the owners, Mike and Kristie Mosher, decided to retire back to Nebraska.

“We have been so blessed to meet so many wonderful people at our brewery, and we will cherish the memories,” the business wrote in a Feb. 24 Facebook post.

Rule105, which opened in 2021, was named after an Urban Dictionary term meaning “beer is the answer.” The brewery will hold an on-site liquidation auction on March 21.
