Belfast Ice Festival Kicks Off This Weekend

BELFAST, Maine (WABI) – The weather appears to be pleasant this weekend!

A visit to Maine’s Midcoast could be in the works.

The Belfast Ice Festival, sponsored by Stanley Chevrolet and Maine Chevy Dealers, is making a comeback in downtown Belfast this weekend, from February 27 to March 1.

Over 25 ice carvings will be featured in the city center.

The Annual State of Maine Ice Carving Competition will take place on Saturday.

The evaluation will occur at 2 p.m. conducted by local judges.

Cash awards will be given to the top three finishers.

Additional attractions feature live performances, an ice bar, and favorable offers at Belfast restaurants and stores.

Just to observe the community and witness all these individuals and everyone simply enjoying themselves while being kind, that’s what I believe truly makes us stand out for this event,” said Amanda Cunningham, Executive Director of Our Town Belfast. “It’s fundamentally about the community and supporting our local businesses. For most of the participating businesses, this is their biggest day of the year, taking place on a Saturday in August. So, it’s quite significant.

Space for parking will be restricted in the downtown region.

The main street will be closed on Saturday between Washington and Cross Street from 9 AM until 3 PM.

Additional details are availablehere.
