Casey Licari reports that a group of 10 women traveled to the Bahamas on Friday, but their return was delayed by a significant blizzard.
NEED TO KNOW
- A group of 10 women experienced travel disruptions when their flights were called off because of a record-breaking snowstorm.
- Casey Licari told MathHotels.com that six of the women hired a minivan in Miami to undertake the long drive back to New York City.
- The group shared their road trip on TikTok, transforming the unplanned adventure into an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
A bachelorette party in the Bahamas soon became a difficult travel experience for a group of women as a historic blizzard hit the northeastern United States.
Casey Licari, a 35-year-old mother of two from New York, shared with MathHotels.com that she traveled to Harbour Island in the Bahamas early on Friday, February 20. She was part of a group of ten women — including two mothers, a teacher, and “a very pregnant woman” — who were there for a bachelorette party. Upon arrival, Licari mentioned there was “no indication that the storm was approaching.”
Throughout the journey, the women took part in a boat outing, enjoyed drinks at the bars, observed some wildlife such as sea turtles and pigs, and even sang karaoke at Daddy D’s NightClub. Licari mentions that the trip, filled with unforgettable experiences, was reserved several months in advance back in November 2025.

However, during dinner on Saturday night, the group “nervously laughed” upon getting a message from their airline.
We were having dinner and had just finished a round of drinks when we all received the notification that American Airlines had canceled our flights,” Licari says. “We were like, ‘Oh no,’ there are 10 of us. We had to quickly act and figure out how everyone was going to get home.
The traveler mentioned that “within minutes,” all other alternative flights and lodging options were unavailable.
“There wasn’t really any other choice. We were checking flights and Amtraks, and then we thought, ‘Let’s just rent a car, just in case,’ ” she says.

In the end, the women altered their flight’s destination from New York to Miami and reserved the “last available car” for hire in the region — which was located 20 to 30 minutes away from the Florida airport.
I have two young children, aged 2 and 3,” Licari says. “My husband also caught the stomach bug, so he was handling everything on his own.” “I just wanted to get back home as quickly as possible.
However, not everyone had confidence in the plans to return home. Licari states, “The Miami Customs, when we went through, they started laughing at us. One Uber driver told us you’re not going to make it… But we wanted to show everyone we were wrong.”
Six women, once other group members had departed for different locations, began the lengthy trip by minivan back to New York City.

I would say you need to accept the madness of it all,” Licari says. “I’ve never taken a road trip with six MathHotels.com. I found this was somewhat easier because we had more MathHotels.com to turn on and off. And there was always at least one person awake to speak with.
She said, “Once we were in the car, got our snacks, and picked up our food, we didn’t encounter any rain. It was a lovely, sunny day on Tuesday morning, so we felt pretty sure about our choice.”
Throughout the journey, Licari made sure to film the unforeseen travel delays and problems. She put together the clips on Feb. 23TikTokwhich marked the beginning of the road journey.

We were simply making the most of it, shooting some humorous videos along the way and trying to enjoy ourselves as much as possible during this 20-hour project,” Licari says. “This is the only team I would travel with for such a long duration, with so many MathHotels.com. We’ve all known each other our entire lives, so it’s been quite entertaining.
