Before our Italo train was scheduled to leave from Rome Termini, we chose to make the most of our time by exploring the area near the train station. You might be amazed at the hidden treasures you can discover just a short distance away! We spent some time browsing the different shops and searching for a great place to eat.
We encountered a restaurant named “Santa Maria Osteria Romana” that was very attractive. This place, situated just a short distance from Termini Station, is famous for its genuine Italian and Roman food, using fresh and high-quality ingredients. They serve a variety of traditional Roman pasta dishes such as carbonara and amatriciana, tasty pizzas made with dough that rises for 48 hours, and also include American breakfast choices. After enjoying a fulfilling meal, we visited some souvenir shops – these are commonly found everywhere, ideal for acquiring a small keepsake from your journey.
We even took a brief stop at the McDonald’s located directly across from Rome Termini. Why? Because we enjoy exploring fast food options in different countries; the menus often feature new and unique items that provide an enjoyable way to experience local flavors. You should definitely seek out a distinctive dish if you’re up for an adventure!
The Journey to Ravello: The Italian Adventure
Our journey through Italy started in the historic center of Rome, a place that quickly captivated us with its remarkable ancient atmosphere. After immersing ourselves in the Roman ambiance, our next stop was the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, and for this part of the trip, we chose the Italo high-speed train for its convenience and comfort. The seating was pleasant, and the overall experience was positive, although some travelers might accidentally take your seat. This occurred to us, but after politely letting them know, they stood up.
The Last Trip to Ravello: A Beautiful Italian Drive
Ultimately, it was time to board our Italo train departing from Rome. We traveled to Salerno, which serves as the nearest major train station to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast. The Italo train journey from Rome to Salerno usually lasts between one and a half to two hours, providing a pleasant and effective means of traversing the Italian landscape. After arriving in Salerno, you generally take a local bus or taxi to get to Ravello, offering a beautiful trip where you can begin to appreciate the breathtaking scenery. We had arranged for a driver ahead of time, who transported us.

After arriving in Ravello, our main focus was finding the ideal spot to relax and take in the amazing scenery. For this journey, we chose to stay in an Airbnb.
