Inside the mailbox, visitors can find notebooks where they can leave thoughts, dreams, or stories. For many years, Sailor personally maintained the mailbox, replacing the notebooks when they filled up and keeping the collected entries at her home. After her passing in 2013, the mailbox continued to be cared for by volunteers, and some of the notebooks are now preserved at the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Randall Library.
